Spring break is right around the corner, which means young adults will be getting time off from work and school. People who are on spring break like to travel around the country, and Tampa, FL is one of the most popular destinations during spring break. Thanks to the plethora of beaches and local attractions, Tampa is an enticing destination for both Florida residents and tourists. Have some fun and check out some of the great destinations and events that Tampa has to offer for folks on spring break.

Hit the Beach

If you are interested in coming down to Tampa, chances are you are looking to visit one of the many beaches along the Tampa Bay. The Tampa Bay houses some of the most popular beaches in the country, which is part of the reason so many people come down here for spring break. One of the best local beaches is Clearwater Beach, thanks to its clean stretches of sand and proximity to Clearwater’s popular downtown area.

The Honeymoon Island State Park features more than four miles of beach, and offers opportunities for fishing, swimming, bicycling, and more. Take some time to soak up the sun, or check out one of the local amenities in the area.

Windsurfing & Snorkeling

Windsurfing is one of Tampa’s most popular activities during the spring break, as it combines the fun of surfing and sailing. Anyone interested can rent windsurfing equipment from North Beach Windsurfing at St. Pete Beach. You can also sign up for local lessons that are designed for both long time surfers and anyone looking to pick up windsurfing.

Something else that a lot of people like to do here is snorkeling. Lots of people enjoy this activity because it gives them the chance to get a good look at the local sea life. Once you have the equipment, you can visit some popular spots for snorkeling along the Tampa Bay, including Fort De Soto Park and Shell Key Preserve.

Visit Busch Gardens

If you are looking for a place to visit during spring break, you should take some time to check out the Busch Gardens. This Tampa Bay theme park hosts some of the state’s most popular roller coasters, including the Cobra’s Curse. Water rides are also hosted here, and they are great to check out when the temperature starts rising.

In addition to the rides, the park also houses more than 12,000 species of animals in Tampa’s largest zoo. Live entertainment is also hosted here, and visitors can watch an assortment of shows, dances, and musical performances. Busch Gardens is one place you have to check out if you are visiting the Tampa Bay area.

Watch Spring Training for Baseball

One of the best things about the spring is that it marks the beginning of spring training, signaling the start of a new baseball season. The Tampa Bay Rays’ stadium, the Tropicana Field, is set up close by in St. Petersburg, so by heading down here for spring break you can watch all the teams practice before the season begins.

Plenty of teams come out here for spring training, so even if you are coming from out of state for spring break there is a good chance you can see your favorite team in action. If you have even the slightest interest in baseball this is something you absolutely do not want to miss.
